EOS Rises Above Chapstick

Is Chapstick still the lip balm brand you look for when shopping for this product? A growing number of millennials are no longer selecting the tried and true brand, instead opting for newer, more energized and youthful brands. EOS lip balm, a young, innovative lip balm brand, sells more than one-million products each week. The brand began just over seven years’ ago and this month, they surpassed sales figures of the Pfizer brand. Today, the EOS lip balm products are seen on the shelves of Target, Walmart and Walgreens. Online merchants Ulta and Amazon have EOS on their webstores too.

Burt’s Bees topped the sales list in the lip balm category, although EOS followed closely at second. Chapstick ranked third, while Blistex captured the number four spot. Until several years ago, Chapstick and Blistex were the two leading lip balm brands on the market, each competing against the other. How things can so quickly change, even if you’re a brand that’s been around since the mid-1800s.

The success of EOS, as well as Burt’s Bees, is attributed to the high-quality, natural ingredients each brand uses inside of their lip balms; the product effectiveness; innovation in product design, and their significant marketing efforts on social media and other platforms. Such marketing provides these brands the chance to interact firsthand with customers. This type of experience is desirable by most all shoppers in today’s world.
